Credit card processing and merchant services in Henderson, NV
Henderson grew 11.5% from 2020 to 2025. Businesses opening there charge Clark County's 8.375% sales tax and need a city license that has to be renewed every six months.
Henderson has grown fast. The Census Bureau estimated 353,289 residents in July 2025, 11.5% more than its 2020 base of 316,736. If you're opening a business to serve that growth, two setup items come before your first card sale: the city license and the sales tax rate.
The license comes first. The City of Henderson requires one for anyone who conducts business in the city or is based there, and you need it on or before the day you start. Doing business without it can lead to penalties, correction notices, citations or court action. It isn't a one-time step, either. Apart from gaming licenses, Henderson's business licenses are valid for six months and renew twice a year, so put both dates on the calendar. Before applying, get your Nevada State Business License, register with the Department of Taxation or get an exemption, and complete the workers' compensation declaration.
Sales tax is the easy part. Nevada sets rates by county, and the Department of Taxation's county map lists Clark County at 8.375% since January 1, 2020, the same rate Las Vegas uses. A retailer with stores in both cities can run one rate in both. A $45 sale carries $3.77 in tax.
On card fees, we found no Nevada statute that caps surcharges. The Attorney General's 2020 alert and the card networks set the practical terms: signs where customers enter and pay, the fee itemized on the receipt, no more than your cost, and no surcharge on debit cards. Our Nevada page has the sources.
Set up processing while you're doing the licensing paperwork. Our POS terminals take chip, tap and swipe, we don't use long-term contracts or charge cancellation fees, and if you already take cards, a free statement review shows what you pay now.

Common questions
Do I need a Henderson business license if my company is based in Las Vegas?
If you conduct business within Henderson, yes. The city requires a license for anyone doing business in Henderson or based there, so a Las Vegas company with jobs or a location in Henderson needs one. Check the Las Vegas and Clark County licensing rules separately for the work you do there.
How often do Henderson business licenses renew?
Every six months. The city says its licenses, other than gaming business licenses, are valid for six months and renewed semiannually. Missing a renewal means you're conducting business without a current license, which the city can answer with penalties, correction notices or citations.
What sales tax rate do Henderson businesses charge?
Clark County's rate. The Department of Taxation's county map lists it at 8.375%, effective January 1, 2020, and because Nevada sets rates by county, Henderson and Las Vegas share it. Confirm the current rate with the department before you program a new terminal or online checkout.
Can a Henderson business add a fee for credit card payments?
Yes, as far as Nevada law goes; we found no statute capping surcharges. The Attorney General's 2020 alert asks for signs at the entrance and the point of sale, the charge itemized on the receipt and a fee no higher than your cost. Visa's 3% and Mastercard's 4% caps apply, and debit cards can't be surcharged.
